We are hiring! Sep 21, 2018. We are looking for a Director of Education to join our team! The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is looking for a passionate and dedicated individual with a minimum of 5 years experience in development and implementation of education programs. Must have a BA or BS in Education, Natural Resources or equivalent. In the summer of 2019, a muskox calf was rescued from an oil facility in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The staff of several companies in the area assisted with the capture of the orphaned female muskox after she was separated from her herd during a bear attack. The AWCC worked with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game to relocate the calf to our facility. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research and quality animal care. The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is a sanctuary located in Portage, Alaska, dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating Alaska’s wildlife. Established in 1993, the AWCC plays a vital role in wildlife conservation, serving as a refuge for injured and orphaned animals.

Meet Arnold. Jul 24, 2018. Meet the newest member of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center family, Arnold. Arnold is a male moose calf, he was found orphaned in Anchorage, Alaska when his mother was hit by a vehicle. He will have a permanent home at the Wildlife Center. Arnold is two months old and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
